Original Louis Vuitton Leather Steamer Cabin Trunk, Dated 1883 - 1900

Fantastic large cabin trunk in Louis Vuitton Steamer leather with a superb color and patina of the leather. Dated between 1883 - 1900. The reason the period of manufacture can be stated this way is that the inside label mentions the Chicago World's Fair of 1883 and that Louis Vuitton moved its London store from 454 The Strand at 149 New Bond Street in 1900. The edges of the chest are protected by leather trim and solid brass corners. The trunk equipped with three brass clasps stamped Louis Vuitton. The chest has two leather handles on the sides. The bottom is zinc protected to prevent moisture from damaging the contents of the trunk and there are four wheels and stamped wooden bars. The trunk is overall in very good condition for its age, with some marks on the exterior leather, which gives it a superb patina. The interior is lined with beige linen, with ribbons in the lid. There are 2 original trays available with the original Louis Vuitton linen belts. The original and superb Louis Vuitton label is on the back of the interior.
