Object description :

"Important Reliquary Bust - XVIIth"
This large reliquary bust, sculpted in the round, is in polychrome and gold lacquered wood.
It features a bearded Saint wearing a draped cloak tied over the shoulder.
At the base of the bust is classically the oval relic medallion with volutes and pearls. The molded rectangular base has a naturalistic frieze on a gold background.
A 17th century work that would come to us from Burgundy, from the Romanesque church of Chânes Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul, built in the 10th century by the monks of Cluny Abbey.
