Pair of gilt bronze vases with mercury, matte and shiny. Remarkable gilt bronze carving work. Flared in shape, with a gadrooned edge, the body of the vase is mounted with a frieze of the winged Victory in a diaphanous dress who holds garlands of flowers on either side of her hands, in procession and flanked by a pair stylized antique priestesses. Each figure stands on a scrolled rosette-headed handle that wraps around the fluted base of the vase, mounted with an acanthus leaf cup. The foot of the vase with laurel wreaths rests on a rectangular stepped base, mounted at the front with a woman in the Antique style holding light beams on either side of her hands. The foot molding is decorated with stylized Palmettes. The sides have stylized oil lamps decorated with griffins. Italy, dated around 1810 Height 50cm.
