Figure representing a lady of the court, in "mingqi" painted terracotta, Han dynasty. The classic form of the figure: a woman with folded hands, wearing a dress with wide sleeves and a wide hem. It is covered with multicolored polychromy. During the reign of the Han (206 BC -2020 AD), China experienced four hundred fruitful and eventful years, which we discover little by little thanks to the discoveries of tombs and whose inhabitants we get to know thanks to the numerous objects in mingqi unearthed. These small statuettes represent court ladies, dancers and musicians - men and women standing dignified in long dresses crossed over the chest, with wide sleeves covering the arms - alongside horses, domestic animals, but also of miniature architectural elements. These objects were often buried with the deceased in the graves. At the beginning of the 20th century, with the development of construction and railways in China, many such tombs were unearthed, as well as many ceramics from earlier periods. China, Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) Height 43 cm, width 18 cm, depth 12.5 cm Condition as seen in photos, relatively good for its age, 1/3 of the height has been glued in the past.
