Louis Deschamps, born May 23, 1842 in Montélimar and died August 8, 1902 in Montélimar, was a French painter. He entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, where he was a pupil of Alexandre Cabanel in 1872. He exhibited at the Salon from 1872 to 1889, then at the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts from 1890 to 1902, as well than in the Salons of the society of friends of the arts of Bordeaux. 3rd medal (1877) and bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889. Chosen with some other most prestigious painters of the time to illustrate the National Edition of the Contemplations of Victor Hugo, he presented at the Salon of 1884 an illustration of poem "Thing seen on a spring day". Anecdote: like other historical figures of the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, Louis Deschamps resided rue Laugier in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
