Remy de Gourmont was a very brilliant writer and literary critic, friend of Villiers De l'Isle Adam, Huysmans, Mallarmé and Mirbeau. Disfigured by lupus, he remained cloistered at home writing and only left his home to go to his publisher, the Mercure de France. Numbered copy on Arches vellum. Illustrated with chisel engravings by J.-E. Ploughman. Very good state.
