Born in Burgundy, Juan de Borgoña introduced Quattrocento Italian art to the Kingdom of Castile. His archaic style is recognizable by the use of a tonal palette dominated by reds and greens, which contrast subtly. The treatment of the folds, particularly structured, and the softness of his faces, are characteristic of his work. His compositions can be seen in Spain, notably in the cathedral of Toledo.
