Pierre-Joseph Lorthior was specialized in tokens and seals, he engraved stones and his art reached such a level of refinement that Marie-Antoinette made him the engraver of her seal in 1774.
Our pair of neoclassical allegorical reliefs has a finely chiseled decoration that attests to the quality of the artist's work.
