Miragioscope Or Camera Obscura
Rare MIRAGIOSCOPE or foldable camera obscura built in reinforced cardboard covered with paper with geometric pattern. It is in its original box, a poor quality wooden box inside which the instructions for use are glued and which has allowed its very good conservation. Probably creation of Alphonse Giroux circa 1835. A similar model attributed to Charles Chevalier ?? was sold at Christie's on Nov 23, 2000 for the sum of GPB 8225. The box measures 35.5cm long, 21cm wide and 6.5cm high. When unfolded the Miragioscope measures 27.5 cm long, 18.5 wide and 14.5 high.
