The God Ebisu Riding A Carp

Ebisu, Japanese Shinto Deity, is the God of fishermen and luck, often represented with a carp, an animal very present in Asian symbolism evoking courage, wisdom, perseverance and love. Both represented here in an important panel carved in high relief and openwork from the 19th century. Very beautiful and rare sculpture releasing great power, in heavy wood, with refined polychromy and gilding. Good condition, happy new year!
