Russian porphyry.
First quarter of the 19th century.

This pair of vases shows a reversible lid in cassolette. With their long profiled neck, they highlight the deep color of this Russian porphyry. Their elegant shape strongly evokes the monumental porphyry vase erected in the summer garden of St. Petersburg.
