C ANDREA Africanist sculpture from the Art Deco period, created around 1930. Rare bust in black patinated plaster mounted on an original black lacquered solid wood base. Very successful stylization, great finesse of execution and remarkable manufacturing quality characterize this superb bust of a Mangbetu woman. It was Citroën who, on the occasion of the Citroën Center-Afrique expedition also called Croisière Noire, honored this tribe of the Congo by making the promotional poster for this epic in 1924.
