Painter born in Corbeil-Essonnes in 1891, Julie Florent is active in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century under the name of Lydia Radda. She participated in the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon des Tuileries from 1930 as well as the Salon d'Automne, of which she became a member in 1945. She also exhibited in several Parisian galleries where her works alongside those of Léonard Fougita, Henri by Waroquier or even by André Lhote.

Her work of the 1920s around the female nude was hailed by the critics of her time, praising a promising artist, with sensitive and pearly painting, “ignorant of any academicism” *. The female nude in charcoal that we are proposing was produced at the same time, in 1925. It will later be illustrated in the painting of still lifes with flowers.
