This 19th century Belgian artist specialized in rustic genre scenes featuring peasants working in the fields or taking care of their animals. Although little is known about his formal artistic training, it is evident that his style and choice of subjects were closely linked to the works of French realist artists Julien Dupré (1851-1910) and Georges Laugée (born 1853 ).
