Large Japanese Dish In Cloisonné Enamels, Japan Nineteenth Century
Large square dish with cut sides, polychrome decoration in cloisonné enamels of birds and flowers in central medallion. The perimeter is adorned with alternating reserves of shishis and phoenixes on an interlacing background. The reverse is also very worked, decorated with interlacing and waves. Japan, late Edo - early Meiji.
