Marcel Canneel (1894-1953) Important oil on canvas representing a folk procession with giants. Signed and dated 1941. Dimensions: 131 x 154cm Frame: 146 x 171cm Painter. Younger brother of Eugène, Jean and Jules Canneel. Started as a decorative painter at Firmin Baes but rather quickly opted for painting. Self-taught. Preferred for city views, landscapes, figures, still lifes. His early impressionist style evolved into a more rigid and synthetic style. He also finds his inspiration in the South of France, in folk scenes and war scenes.
