With its two gilded bronze cornucopias, a motif dear to the reign of Louis XIV, this chest of drawers is commonly known as «commode à moustache". Protected by an elegant marble top, this chest-of-drawer has four rows but it takes five drawers in all. The first row under the belt is separated by a frame which differentiates two drawers and conceals a secret, an ingot hideout.

The low offset sleeper forms one with the last drawer. On the three sides of this chesnut chest of drawers, a very beautiful marquetry of amaranth, boxwood and ebony fillets reveal the perfect symmetry of this piece of furniture and provide a framework for gilded bronzes arranged in angles, handles, keyholes, ornaments and feet in acanthus leaves with turbulent intertwining. In perfect condition, we will appreciate all the Louis XIV taste of this piece of furniture which has stood the test of time.
