Framed (some missing gilded wood frame)
Exhibited at the Salon des Beaux-Arts in 1907 under the reference 1034, then at the Salon de Genève in 1908 under the number 15 (label still present on the back).
Format (panel): 43 x 37.5 cm
Size (frame): 57.5 x 52.5 cm
The last painting to pass through the auction room, depicting a bride, officially titled "Au pied de l'autel", also exhibited at the 1907 Salon des Beaux-Arts (number 1031), fetched 6500 euros.
Pupil of Alexandre Cabanel, Édouard Dubufe and Alexis-Joseph Mazerolle at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris.
He exhibited mythological subjects and genre paintings at the Salon des artistes français from 1878, then at the Salon de la Société nationale des beaux-arts.
Prizes awarded to Edouard Rosset-Granger:
- Gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris 1900 for "Les Aciéries de Longwy" (Decorative Arts Section).
- Silver medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris 1889 for "Les Hiérodules" (Painting Section).
- Bronze medal (3rd class) at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français in Paris in 1884 for "Orphée".
