Souvenir Of A Whaling Campaign, 19th Century
Very good example of pontoon craftsmanship, surely the work of a sailor during a whaling campaign. To our knowledge this is a unique piece in style. This type of engraving / drawing was mainly done on sperm whale teeth or cetacean vertebra but very rarely ever seen on a shell of this size.
