"Giulio Vittini (1888-1968) The Musicians Sailors"
Alive and colorful, this oil on hardboard by Italian artist Giulio Vittini representing sailors playing music. The work in good condition, presented without frame measures 54 cm by 65, it is signed lower right. Giulio Vittini was educated in Rome, then at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Admitted to the Royal Academy of Rome he left it with the 1st prize (“Gold Medal”). 1914: Committed Garibaldien volunteer, he is decorated with the French Croix de Guerre 1920: Creation of a mosaic decoration (Glory to the Fatherland 6 m × 3 m) for the Monument to Victor-Emmanuel II, in Rome 1921: Decoration in the fresco on the walls of the Ducal Hall in the Vatican 1924: Exhibition at the Geri Gallery in Milan (Purchase by the city of Milan of the “Beggar of Sèrina” for the municipal museum). He worked for three years as a model designer at La Scala in Milan. 1930: Arrival in France at Montbéliard; hired by Émile Blazer, historian, for the decoration of the city which celebrated the centenary of Georges Cuvier (French zoologist and paleontologist). Under the directives of the architect Hézard and with the collaboration of his painter friend Henri Sauldubois, he produced the decorations that would be installed in the streets of Montbéliard. He introduced the Italian-style technique to Montbéliard, transparent decorations illuminated at night from the inside by the electrician Voisin. Some of his drawings and paintings are currently in the Beurnier museum (donated by Mr. Émile Blazer) as well as in the Museum of the Castle of the Dukes of Würtemberg, in Montbéliard. 1933: He founded "l'Atelier" at the castle of Montbéliard (school of painting and decorative art) 1935: He debuted at the Salon of French artists, a canvas - The Dolomites - was praised by the press. 1947: He founded a ceramic decoration workshop “Le Diairi. ”(Named after the headdress of the traditional costume of Montbéliard). 1948: Large paintings, "Good French cuisine" at La Crémaillère restaurant in New York, United States. 1950: Eight paintings of the Stations of the Cross at the church of Beaulieu (Doubs) 1951: Arrival in Hyères, creation of a decoration workshop on earthenware. 1955: Corsican exhibition at the Toulon museum (Great success) 1956: Large decorative panel for the “Azur-Varoise” stand (Nice) 1956: Decoration of the “Aux Borrels” chapel dedicated to Saint Lambert in Hyères. 1957: Large painting representing Hyères and its past, installed in the main staircase of the town hall. 1957: Large paintings on the life of Maurin des Maures (after the book by Jean Aicard, published in 1908), installed in the town hall of Bormes-les-Mimosas. He executed a series of landscapes of Provence which earned him great success.
