Glass production began in 1825 on the small island of Holmegaard, south of the Denmark. At first, Holmegaard produced only green bottles, then launched into the creation of clear glasses with the collaboration of master glassmakers from Bohemia. Originally made up of small workshops in a peat swamp, in the 20th century Holmegaard became a large modern group of glass creators in which the best Danish artists joined forces, including Per Lutken (1916-1998) and Anja Kjaer.
