French Cubist Floral Still Life, Flowers In The Provence Studio
A strong and characterful art deco floral still life by Alfred Lesbros (1873-1940). An artist from Provence in the South of France, born in Montfavet, near Avignon, Lesbros took part in the artistic revolutions of the early twentieth century.
Exhibiting at the Salon in Lyon, and in Paris - at the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne - his works can be seen in museums in Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Avignon, Marseille, Montpellier and Tournon.
Strongly influenced by cubism in the 1920s and 30s, and our work, dating from this period, is a wonderful example of his work.
Measuring 38 x 55 cm, our oil on canvas is signed at the lower right and bears the artist's own inventory number AL-161 on the verso. The overall framed size including an attractive Spanish style frame are 54 x 71 cm
