Large Golden Frame Around 1870 Neo-renaissance Style (view: 212cm X 140 Cm
Large frames (humorously baptized "XXl" in our workshop) are our specialty. Impressive, by their size, spectacular in a room, they are before being the essential complements to paintings of the same size, objects that magnetize the eye and arouse admiration. This one has his twin brother at the D'Orsay Museum. It framed a "take off" of Saint John the Baptist and represented Messalina as indicated by a gilded cardboard plaque enhanced with the inscription painted in black. Its neo-renaissance style reminds us that with Italy, France was the country where the most beautiful frames were made in Europe. you can admire on the pictures the frame being restored to which infinite care has been brought.
