"the lighthouse in the storm", oil on plywood panel, signed lower right, P Forest, 81 X 100 cm, in a large wooden frame and gilded stucco, 113 X 130 cm, outside. Pierre Forest, born in Nice on November 21, 1881, died in Pris in 1971. Nephew of the Lyon engraver, Tony Forest-Fleury, he exhibited from 1931 to 1943, at the independent salon of which he was a member. He made personal exhibitions in several French cities, including Paris, in South America, in Switzerland and in Morocco. A retrospective exhibition of his work was presented by the city of Nice in 1981 (Bénézit). Bibliography: Bénézit, V, 572. Dictionary of the small masters of painting 1820-1920, value of tomorrow.
