Buddha Maravijaya, Shan province, alabaster marble, 17th century.
Buddha seated cross-legged on a plinth, his right leg bent over the left and performing with his right hand, the "mudra" of the taking of the earth witness. This gesture symbolizes the victory of the awakened one over Mara, prince of desires and personification of death.
The cranial protuberance (usnisa) is surmounted by a point in the form of a rounded stuppa, some gaps on the protuberance.
