René Lalique: Suspension

René LALIQUE 1860 - 1945 "PASSIFLORE" SUSPENSION - 1924 in pressed molded glass with amber patina composed of rounded slabs attached to each other by metal fixings. Original bail cover. High. : 110 cm (43.31 in.) The Passiflore chandelier is composed of twelve pentagonal plates. These are assembled by metal fasteners to form a sphere. Trimmings are used to maintain the luster while hiding the electrical system. Each of the twelve plaques features the motif of the passion flower, the Passion flower. Although this flower takes its name from the Passion of Christ, this chandelier is not a work of a religious nature. Flora is indeed for René Lalique, along with women and fauna, one of his main sources of inspiration.
