Very beautiful chest of drawers in amaranth wood veneer with a slightly curved front, opening with two drawers decorated with finely chiseled gilded bronze, red / white / black veined marble top. In his studio in rue Traversière-Saint-Antoine, Hedouin produced chests of drawers and secretaries adorned with various marquetry, often with geometric motifs in the Louis XV style. The life of Jean-Baptiste Hedouin is not well known. After receiving his master's degree, he set up his workshop on rue Traversière-Saint-Antoine. All the furniture he produced was of good quality. His furniture, mainly in the Regency and Louis XV style, almost all covered with sheet or grid veneer, was varied: wardrobes, flat and sloping desks, bookshelves ... but it was the chests of drawers that made up most of his production. The majority of them adopted the bulging and heavy forms of the Regency style. Others presented curved lines, lighter, the upright and the apron underlined by gilded bronzes. We can mention two works, very far from the usual style of Jean-Baptiste Hedouin. It is a pair of stepped corners, in Chinese lacquer and polychrome European varnish, with framing of rocaille bronzes. Having found his stamp on some pieces of furniture next to that of his colleague Migeon, it is assumed that Hedouin also worked for merchants. After a long career, Jean-Baptiste Hedouin died at his home, rue Traversiere-Saint-Antoine, in 1783 MUSEUMS Corner inlaid in sheets of violet wood veneer, it is adorned with chiseled and gilded bronzes. The lower crosspiece presents an eventful shape. The top is in molded marble. Semicircular in shape, this cabinet opens with two doors and has two shelves inside. It is plated with leaves cut into triangles which form a diamond around the gilded bronze masks blooming in the center of the doors. The bronze ornamentation also includes a cul-de-lamp, offcuts, corner patterns ... The bronzes seem to have been re-gilded and perhaps even brought back later ...
