Pastoral painting of the early eighteenth century.
An inscription on the back indicates that the painting would be an original work of "Branti". There is no painter known by this name, but the painting is very similar to the paintings of Domenico Brandi, Neapolitan artist 1684-1736.
The small description also says, "prodigal son" but the subject is rather a shepherd, like many other paintings by Domenico Brandi.
Small old restoration on the back
