Oil on canvas in oval shape. Female portrait signed V. Pieters and dated 1857. Small tear in the upper left. Golden frame to restore. Frame dimensions: 114 cm x 95 cm. Victor Pieters, born in Rotterdam in 1813, moved to Normandy in the 1940s. He was Gustave Flaubert's neighbor in Rouen when he painted this painting. A known oil on canvas representing Flaubert dates from the same period as our portrait. He died in Le Havre in 1894.
