MALFROY Henry (1895-1944) MALFROY Henri or MALFROY-SAVIGNY Painter of landscapes and seascapes. Post-impressionist. Provençal school. Born January 15, 1895 in Martigues (Bouches-du-Rhône). Died in 1942. French School. He did his apprenticeship at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris with his father Charles Malfroy, with whom he is often confused. He exhibited regularly in Paris, at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Indépendants until 1934. Adopting a technique close to Impressionism, he painted the coasts and ports of Bouches-du-Rhône (Sausset les Pins, Martigues, Cassis) and Var, but also landscapes of Paris and the banks of the Seine. Settled in Martigues, he broadens his touch, illuminates his compositions, approaching Provençal landscapers, like Félix Ziem.
