Jacques Pouchain, Lamp

Artist: Jacques Pouchain
Jacques Pouchain (1925-2015)
He began his studies of architecture in Paris but gave up and turned to ceramics in 1952. He moved to Dieulefit in the Drôme and launched a utility production then a more sculptural production. He relaunches the Poêt-Laval factory. It was around 1960 that his production became abstract, both for his sculptures and his decorations for dishes. He will end his career with a high quality abstract pictorial production.
In 1965, he participated in the International Exhibition of Contemporary Ceramics at the Cantini Museum in Marseille and the first biennial in Vallauris in 1968.
This lamp base is imposing, stable, revealing of Pouchain’s work. Perfect condition.
