Portrait of Henriette Coligny de La Suze attributed to the Brothers Beaubrun: Sold with a certificate of authenticity. This oil on canvas in very good state of conservation measures 65cm on 54cm. It is in its period frame decorated with bay leaves with its original gilding (77cm x 67cm). The painting is always set in its frame by original wrought iron nails. The painting represents a lady of quality, on a dark background. She is wearing a white dress and a blue coat. Pearls of mother of pearl sublimate the whiteness of her skin. This is Henriette de Coligny. Henriette de Coligny, Countess of La Suze and Coligny, born in 1618 and died March 10, 1673, is a French woman of letters. She was at the center of a society where the spirit was devoted to poetry and gallantry. She writes, in the midst of a life of dissipation and light morals, during which she had at the same time a reputation of beauty, wit, and talent. Imprecise cicada, she ruins herself in lawsuits. She will lose the inheritance Coligny in a lawsuit against her sister-in-law Mme de Châtillon. But her troubles are of little consequence, for her life is devoted to passion and literature. This portrait is attributed to the Brothers Beaubrun: Henri, born in 1603 in Amboise and died in 1677 in Paris, and his cousin Charles Beaubrun, born in 1604 in Amboise and died in 1692 in Paris, are French painters active at the court of kings Louis XIII then Louis XIV and specialized in the portraits of queens of France. Charles and his cousin, Henri Beaubrun, belong to a family of 17th century French portrait painters. They study painting with their uncle, Louis Bobrun. Their works are mainly made jointly. Their collaboration is such that it is impossible to differentiate their hand. Their individual works are thus jointly attributed to them.
