"Pair Of Louis XVI Period Putti Sconces By André-antoine Ravrio, Late 18th Century"
Very large pair of Putti sconces in gilt bronze and patinated by Ravrio from the late eighteenth. Perched on a gilt bronze console decorated with acanthus leaves and heart-stitched lines, a Putto carries four arms of light in gilt bronze decorated with acanthus leaves. The Russian Museum (Русский Музей) of St. Petersburg (Palace Michel / Михайловский Дворец) keeps a chandelier made with the same putti. Another chandelier (entirely in gilded bronze) was sold by Kugel following the exhibition "Treasures of the Tzars" in 1998.
We find by Ravrio many times similar Putti, used as candlesticks or chandeliers.
