Pair Stained Glass Signed J.vantillard Medallion On The Theme Of Hunting Date 1884
Pair of translucent glass windows, painted in grisaille, enamels and silver yellow. Decor, Renaissance style, scrolls, flowers, foliage, masks, cherubs, cupids. With in their center a medallion, the one representing in a forest a hunting lunch at the edge of a pond; the other a hunting scene, in the distance a deer beats the water to escape the dogs. Signed J.Vantillard, dated 1884, Paris Charles Joseph Vantillard (1836-1909), apprentice at Oudinot in Paris between 1853 and 1856. In 1874, he took over Maison Ména at 12 rue Tlemcen in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. From 1889, he had his studio at 4 rue Daubigny in 1889. Joseph Vantillard was present at the World Fair of 1878, as well as at several regional exhibitions between 1882 and 1887 where he won many decorations.
