Small cabinet forming medal door in Boulle style marquetry from Napoleon III period, signed Tahan, 30 rue de la Paix. Jean-Pierre Alexandre Tahan was the supplier of the Emperor Napoleon III and he was known for his permanent research of new materials and new techniques. This small box offers a good illustration with this blue background probably made with a resin or a lacquer colored in turquoise blue. The signature and the address present on the lock make it possible to date this box between 1849 and 1866. Presence of a working key and an old cardboard box of protection. Possibility to use the box to place 64 medals or coins of collection or like a simple box.
