"Portrait Of President Durey De Meinière (1705-1785)"
Interesting pastel portrait on paper mounted on canvas depicting a gentleman bust of three-quarter. Louis XV period. Old traces of moisture in the right and bottom, trace of an old restoration under the chin and on the neck to hide a tear. Annotations handwritten back on the chassis indicating that it would be the President of Meinière father of the Countess of Guitaut. President Durey de Meinières (1705-1785) was one of the presidents of the Parliament of Paris around 1750. In the succession of his daughter Countess de Guitaut (1741-1820) there is mention of two pastel portraits of her husband , this one being perhaps one of the two? The portrait is frameless, it has been cleaned and very slightly restored. Small accidents are very little visible.
