Gruber 1913

Lovely stained glass window representing a landscape of the Vosges.

Jacques Gruber was born on January 25, 1870 in Sundhouse in Bas-Rhin and died on December 15, 1936 in Paris. A French master glassmaker and cabinetmaker, he trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nancy. A scholarship was awarded to him by the city of Nancy, which allowed him to follow Gustave Moreau's courses in Paris.
In 1893, returning to Nancy, he taught at the School of Fine Arts before creating vase decorations for Daum, furniture for Majorelle and book covers for René Wiener.
In 1897, he opened his own workshop and became passionate about all techniques of decorative arts before setting his sights on stained glass around 1900.
In 1901, he was one of the founders of the Nancy School and was part of the Steering Committee.
