Large lacquered armchair in grey lacquered beech, stamped Jacob d rue Meslée, Empire period.
Although a Directoire inspiration, the stamp marked on this seat was used by the Jacob house between 1803 and 1813. We do not know, for the time being, the location of this seat before 1815.
The marks CV and EC n ' have not yet identified. The mark MRCV corresponds to the mark of property affixed under Louis XVIII. Inventory numbers being, at Versailles, always inscribed on the straps, impossible to know the exact location of this piece of furniture. In 1863, the present chair is moved from Versailles to Fontainebleau. The double number F 22399 corresponds to an entry of May 8, 1863 for the service of the stables of the castle, probably for the apartment and services of the Grand Veneur under Napoleon III. The seat is then covered in green velvet embossed and described as "armchair lacrosse". It is sold in 1881, at the public sales of the estate.
We thank Mr. Jean Vittet, Chief Curator of the Château de Fontainebleau for his precious collaboration.
Condition report: very good condition, wear of use. Resumption of side rebates.
