Sculpted Wood Skull - Memento Mori
This great memento-mori (remember that you are mortal) is carved in such a way that the slicing of the tool used is very visible. It has a bright dark brown patina. Part of the jaw bone on the left side is missing. The object has a strong presence. A horizontal line, circular, delimits the upper part of the skull as if it could open and is held by small nails. Good condition otherwise a perforation at the back and a hole at the base for soclage. Liège art attributed to the 16th century. H_14 Length: 20.2 cm Former Liege collection.
