Baroque German oboe from Paulus around 1750 From 1650, the families Hotteterre and Philidor, instrument makers, composers, virtuoso musicians, members of the Chamber Music and the Great Stables of the King, will make the instrument evolve, dividing it into three parts, refining the bore, adjusting the hole in the notes, adding a W-shaped key (allowing alternation of the position of the hands) and a key of Mi. They are considered the creators of the baroque oboe. In 1664, Jean-Baptiste Lully, superintendent of the Court, wrote a march for these new oboes, integrates them to "The Great Stable of the King" of Louis XIV, an institution dating from Francis I.
