Louis XVI Mahogany Secrétaire à Abattant, 18th Century Period
Louis XVI secrétaire in solid mahogany and veener mahogany with a white veined gray marble top embedded in a gilded bronze gallery. It opens with a drawer with gilded bronze handles, an inset gilt-tooled leather writing surface to reveal a fitted interior with six drawers,including a writing necessary, with fine gilt bronze buttons, and four compartments. At the bottom, two leaves reveal shelves.
It presents a mahogany belt finely molded under the top drawer. The angles of the uprights are composed in the anterior part of fluted and partly posterior columns of fluted pilasters. The drawers as well as the side parts are punctuated with fine brass frames. It rests on four mahogany feet turned with bronze delicately chiseled and gilded.
