"A Carved Giltwood Console, Louis XV, Circa 1745"
Louis XV period console in finely carved wood and gilded with gold leaf burnished and amati to accentuate the sculptures. Curved in shape, its belt is eventful curvaceous curves and curved very openwork on all sides. It rests on two twin inverted double-curved legs joined by a spacer also openwork. Belt and spacer are centered with a large openwork rocaille garlands of flowers and foliage. Beautiful harmonious high quality thin openwork sculptures of great density, composed of rock, staples, acanthus, flowers, foliage, pigtails and stylized star. All topped with a light gray turquin marble. It should be noted the great care given to the connecting elements of an irreproachable quality. Balance, nervousness, elegance and quality are the most appropriate terms for this console very representative of the period rockery. We find in this furniture all the beautiful ornaments as elegant as refined period rockery; period when the exuberance of pleasure was the repercussion of the court of the King of France. Supported by the Marquise de Pompadour, favorite of King Louis XV; Madame la Marquise being recognized for having been the effective patron of arts and letters. Observation: Console very high quality having kept its gilding of origin. Dimensions Width 103cm, Depth 49cm, Height 82cm.
