Elected on June 26, 1667, he was mediator in the wars of succession between France, Spain, England and Holland by the peace of Aix-la-Chapelle called "Clementine" . Carlo Maratta or Carlo Maratti (Camerano, 15 May 1625 - Rome, 15 December 1713) is an Italian painter whose style is more refined and composed than those of Cortona and Annibale Carracci, and more allied to the traditions of Andrea Sacchi, Francesco Albani and Guido Reni.
