A Louis XV Bergère Stamped N. Blanchard .
A large Louis XV solid beech-wood Bergère, stamped Nicolas BLANCHARD. French Parisian work 18th century
The oval back , arms, cushion and seat , wrapped supports above seatrail all covered in silk , on fluted tapering legs. Fine carved a ribbon-twist with and flowers. stamped 'N BLANCHARD'
The stamp: N BLANCHARD for Jean-Nicolas Blanchard is struck under the rear crossbar.
Observation: Very good condition of conservation for this seat of the 18th century which has undergone no alteration only the upholstery and silk (fabric Maison-Pansu) have been the subject of rehabilitation. Repairs made according to the canons of the decorative arts of this second part of the eighteenth century. It should be noted that our upholsterer has been able to preserve under its complete renovation the old stretcher. Preventive treatment and waxed of the woodwork were also carried out.
Jean-Nicolas Blanchard, master in Paris in 1771. Carpenter in seats Jean-Nicolas Blanchard practiced rue de Cléry under the sign of the "Chat blanc". He soon acquired a great reputation, he received numerous orders from the royal house for the Chateau de Versailles as well as for the new castle of Saint-Germain-en-Laye for the count d'Artois "future king Charles X" and delivered sofas and armchairs for daughters of louis XV, for the summer salon in Bellevue.
