A pair of Louis XV beech wood armchairs stamped by Louis DELANOIS
Each with curved and molded padded back, part-padded arms, carved seat corvered in soie, the arms with molded and carved supports , on turned tapering fluted legs headed by a patera and terminating in bun feet, each stamped L DELANOIS on the front crossmember .

Louis Delanois, maître in 1761. The famous chair maker earned an excellent reputation in the second half of the 18th Century. Having become a master in 1761, the sophistication, elegance and originality of his productions attracted important merchants and well-known personalities, such as the Prince de Beauvau and the Comte d’Orsay. He was one of the main suppliers for Madame Du Barry for whom he started to furnish her apartments in the Château de Fontainebleau at the beginning of her rise to a position of power, and then later her apartments in Versailles and the Pavillon de Louveciennes.
A few years later, after the coronation of Louis XVI, he made the throne of the King and a ceremonial seat for the Queen. He also supplied several pieces of furniture to the Prince de Condé for the Palais Bourbon and the Château de Chantilly.
Louis Delanois made furniture in the Louis XV and then neo-classical styles, and he was one of the first cabinetmakers to produce chairs with tapering and fluted legs. His chairs are wide and spacious, as is the case for our model.
His pieces can be found in all major museums worldwide.
