Object description :

"Flemish School From The Seventeenth Century, Attributed To Frans Francken III Adoration Of Magi"
Flemish School of the seventeenth century, attributed to Frans Francken III (1607-1667) Adoration of the Magi Dimensions: 63 cm by 49 cm. Very beautiful frame of 82 cm by 67 cm This beautiful XVIIth century painting, is painted on an oak panel (like most of northern paintings). Frans Francken III attributed to this artist born in Antwerp in 1607, died in that city in 1667, was the eldest son of Frans II and was nicknamed Rubens Francken (source Bénézit). Coming from a family of Flemish painters who worked in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. For the Adoration of the Magi, Frank Franz, is based on a model of Peter Paul Rubens, his mentor. Extremely popular in its time, the "Adoration" was reissued by the students of the great master and other paint shops ... The Magi come to bring three gifts (gold, frankincense and myrrh) to the infant Jesus. In the iconographic tradition Gaspard, with Asian features, offer incense, Melchior, represented as an old white bearded, gold, and Balthazar, the black skin, myrrh. There are several known versions of the Adoration of the Magi (with some variants and dimensions) The painting that I propose is beautifully decorative, good workmanship and has a bright and light bills, smooth and transparent, clear and bright colors, especially for clothing and turbans of the characters. Quite dark shadows, a vigorous and drawing away.
