Revolving Bookcase With Iron Base - 19th Century
An elegant 19th-century revolving bookcase, made of mahogany and featuring openwork slatted sides. It is topped by a square solid mahogany top, accented by beautiful molding. Its two storage levels are divided into four compartments, separated by vertical solid mahogany posts that connect the top to the base and are secured with brass nails.
The piece rests on a base with crossed crossbars, combined with a pivoting mechanism featuring a metal frame and iron fittings. This is crucial for its stability and sturdiness, as some models have a wooden base.
Original ceramic casters complete this piece, which is as practical as it is refined.
A true testament to the craftsmanship of early Victorian cabinetmakers, this bookcase combines timeless elegance, functionality, and refinement. A piece with character, ideal for adding a touch of authenticity and distinction to a classic or contemporary interior.
