Created by Italian designer Enzo Ciampalini for Lamp International (or Terzani).
Large Murano glass shade (Scavo-style finish, with a warm frosted/marbled appearance) supported by a sculptural spiral base made of cast metal/copper with a brown patina.
A sturdy, square base with a heavy, stable stone/concrete-like finish ensures perfect stability.

Height: 180 cm
Shade diameter: 60 cm
Base: 40x40 cm

Scavo glass is an Italian glassmaking technique, primarily associated with the island of Murano, whose name literally means “dug up” or “unearthed” (scavato in Italian).
It mimics the appearance of antique glass that has lain underground for centuries, covered with a matte, dusty, grainy, or oxidized patina resulting from contact with minerals in the soil.
During the hot-working process (at around 800 °C), a mixture of powders (silica, nitrates, carbonates) is sprayed onto the surface of the glass object to create this characteristic rough texture and aged appearance.
Popularized particularly in the 1960s and 1970s by renowned Venetian master glassmakers and artists such as Alfredo Barbini, it has captivated art lovers with the contrast between often very modern forms and a neo-antique texture.
