Wall-mounted Font – Virgin And Child By Geneviève Duboul (1913–2007)

A wall-mounted font made of polychrome glazed terracotta, decorated with a depiction of the Virgin and Child in an intimate composition imbued with tenderness.

The work stands out for its delicate and stylized rendering of the faces, with their gentle, melancholic gazes, as well as for its rich color palette blending shades of ochre, blue, brown, and pink.

The design, enlivened by floral motifs and subtle interplay of lines, reveals a unique artistic style that is at once naive, expressive, and poetic.

The lower section features a projecting basin, adorned with a polychrome floral design.

Signed “G. Duboul” on the reverse.

Two hanging holes in the upper section.
