Jacques Callot, The Great Misery Of War
A beautiful plate from the series *The Great Misery of War* by Jacques CALLOT (1592–1635).
This is an etching measuring 8.1 x 18.2 cm (copper); 9 x 19 cm (image); and 17.5 x 27.5 cm (frame).
This is plate no. 16 in the series and a very fine print from the second state/III (Lieure no. 1354, Meaume no. 579), with generous margins.
It is particularly well-inked, and since the plate shows little wear, all details are perfectly visible.
